Secure shredding business Chaffinch Document is going wild with a free community shredding service in support of Staffordshire Wildlife Trust at Wesport Lake in Burslem on Saturday 16 June.
Staffordshire Wildlife Trust is holding its first ever Big Wild Weekend – two days of wild and wonderful activities to encourage families to discover the delights of the natural world.
In Stoke-on-Trent, families can enjoy Big Wild Weekend at the Trust’s Westport Lake Visitor Centre, Longport, on Saturday 16 June, from 11am to 3pm.
Chaffinch Document started working with Staffordshire Wildlife Trust in late 2017 when it pledged to donate £1.25 for every tonne of paper recycled to the Trust specifically to support initiatives at Westport Lake such as the Big Wild Weekend. Donations are looking to top £500 in the first year.
Thanks to support of Chaffinch Document and funding from Children in Need, all the activities on the day will be free.
Chaffinch Document and its staff will be attending the day with their 7.5T mobile-shredding truck that can destroy over 1 tonne of confidential paperwork an hour. To support the initiative, Chaffinch Document is offering members of the public the chance to have one bag of confidential documents shredded in front of them at no cost to raise awareness of data protection and avoid sensitive information being disposed of in general waste.

We are keen to extend the secure, accredited service that we provide to businesses, both large and small, to households and individuals. Securely destroying old documents is a vital tool in combatting the rise of data fraud and identity theft, and homes are equally as vulnerable as businesses to data crime.”
Big Wild Weekend will take place on 16 – 17 June, half way through The Wildlife Trusts’ 30 Days Wild campaign, which is inspiring people across the UK to make nature part of their everyday lives.
